Pumpkins and Pints for Polio
On October 19 (12-3pm) the Rotary Club of North East, Maryland and Port House Creamery are partnering to raise awareness for World Polio Day.
Members of the Rotary Club of North East have long worked to eradicate the paralyzing virus. This year the club is partnering with Port House Creamery, located at 15 N. Main Street in North East for an awareness and fundraising event.
A donation for every cone and pint of hand-crafted ice cream will be made to the club’s Polio Plus effort. Kelly Benson, Creamery Manager, thinks the partnership is an ideal way to build awareness of a global humanitarian effort that finds strength when conducted on a local level. “We are offering a tasty, fun and easy way to help an amazing effort to end a devastating disease.”
To help with the “fun” part, Rotary members will be on hand from noon to 3 pm on the 19th to tell the Polio Plus story to visitors and help donors make and take a small decorated pumpkin.
